Meet Liza Wright

Your celebrant with a twist on tradition

Hello! I'm Liza, mum to two wonderful girls and someone who genuinely believes I have the best job in the world – being a celebrant. This means I get to share in people's most memorable events, from the joyful laughter of wedding days to the poignant beauty of celebrating a life well-lived.

My Journey to Celebrancy

My path to becoming a celebrant began during a family wedding in America. Watching my cousin's ceremony, I was struck by how personal and meaningful it felt – so different from the formulaic ceremonies I'd experienced back home. That spark of inspiration led me to research celebrant training when I returned to Wales, and I'm proud to say I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy.

But my journey to this career really started much earlier. I've been lucky enough to be a primary school teacher for many years, which taught me the art of storytelling, the importance of engaging every person in the room, and how to handle the unexpected with grace and humour.

The Musical Thread

Music has always been central to my life. As a cellist, I've performed in touring shows, orchestras, and string quartets, and I still spend most Friday evenings rehearsing with Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra. This musical background gives me an intuitive understanding of ceremony flow, timing, and the emotional power of well-chosen words and moments.

When friends describe me, they often use words like "energetic," "mischievous," and "determined" – along with having "creative flair and dedication." Many say I leave them "shattered but happy" after spending time together! It's this enthusiasm and creativity that I bring to crafting your bespoke ceremony.

My Approach: A Twist on Tradition

I create ceremonies that honour tradition but never feel traditional. My signature style is bringing unexpected personal touches that feel authentically you – whether that's incorporating a beloved pet, referencing a shared love of terrible jokes, or creating a ritual that reflects your unique journey together.

Living in South Wales

I live in Blackwood, close to my extended family, which keeps me grounded in the importance of family connections and community. This beautiful part of Wales, with its mix of stunning countryside, historic venues, and vibrant communities, provides the perfect backdrop for the ceremonies I'm privileged to create.

Whether you're planning something intimate in your own garden or grand in one of our area's magnificent castles, I understand the unique character of South Wales venues and can help you make the most of your chosen location.
